Development of a new production system for high-quality and long-lasting front films with membrane switches (SPEMS film)

In order to be able to produce front films with polydome membrane switches more cost-effectively, faster and with higher quality in the future, a new technology is to be developed for the realization of membrane films by no longer assembling them as a multitude of films, but instead consisting only of a top and bottom film and applying the remaining layers by screen printing. For the new production system for high-quality and long-lasting front foils with membrane switches (SPEMS foils), on the one hand the process for realizing the various layer properties in screen printing and on the other hand a screen-printable and very elastic electronics are to be developed, which is also characterized by a significantly reduced silver content.

The aim is to realize high-quality front foils with membrane switches for German SMEs which, based on the new production technologies to be developed, guarantee a long service life of the polydomes for over 1 million actuations at acceptable world market prices.
