by car

  • From the North-West:
    Take Autobahn A61. Take exit onto A6 then take exit 31-Kreuz Walldorf to merge onto A5 toward Karlsruhe/Basel. Take exit 44-Durlach-Karlsruhe (first exit). Proceed straight down the Durlacher Allee for approx 2.5 km, turn right and follow signs "KIT Campus-Süd" to the main gate.
  • From the North:
    Take Autobahn A5 toward Karlsruhe/Basel.Take exit 44-Durlach-Karlsruhe (first exit). Proceed straight down the Durlacher Allee for approx 2.5 km, turn right and follow signs "KIT Campus-Süd" to the main gate.
  • From the East:
    Take Autobahn A8 toward Karlsruhe. Take exit 41-Dreieck Karlsruhe to merge onto A5, toward Frankfurt.Take exit 44-Durlach-Karlsruhe (first exit). Proceed straight down the Durlacher Allee for approx 2.5 km, turn right and follow signs "KIT Campus-Süd" to the main gate.
  • From the South, South-West:
    Take Autobahn A5 toward Frankfurt. Take exit 44-Durlach-Karlsruhe (first exit). Proceed straight down the Durlacher Allee for approx 2.5 km, turn right and follow signs "KIT Campus-Süd" to the main gate.

If you want to park your car on the campus, please use the east entrance (= main gate, see map) and register in the building to your right (library) on the ground floor.

by train

The campus south is located in the city center of Karlsruhe and can easily be reached by public transport. When you arrive at the Karlsuhe central train station proceed to the main exit (Hauptausgang).

by air

  • Stuttgart airport:
    Click here to get information on Stuttgart airport. Stuttgart airport has a local railway station for suburban trains (S-Bahn). Take S-Bahn S2 toward Backnang or S3 toward Schorndorf and get off at Hauptbahnhof (central train station). When consulting the timetable of the German Railways in the entry field "from" please quote either "Stuttgart Flughafen" or "Stuttgart Hbf".
    When continuing your journey by car please follow the above driving instructions (from the East).
  • Frankfurt airport:
    Click here to get information on Frankfurt airport. Frankfurt airpot has two railway stations. The long-distance railway station is at the AIRail Terminal right next to Terminal 1. Trains arrive at and depart from platforms 4 to 7. When consulting the timetable of the German Railways in the entry field "from" please quote "Frankfurt (m) Flughafen Fernbh".

Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe has an excellent public transportation system (busses and trams). If your accommodation is downtown, we recommend you take the tram. During normal office hours there is a train every 2 to 10 minutes. Busses and trams use the same tickets. For more information please contact KVV and EFA.
