  • Filter testing units for pulse-jet cleaned filters are known in various geometries and it is known that the geometry has a strong influence on the results of filter tests conducted in these devices.

A dimensional analysis has been performed to describe the influence of operating conditions and geometrical properties on the intensity of the pressure pulse during regeneration. As a result, six non-dimensional parameters were found, allowing a complete description of the regeneration process with regard to the pressure pulse intensity. Additionally, the results concerning the geometrical parameters have been validated by a variation of the geometry of a VDI 3926 Type 1 filter tester.

Furthermore, a parameter study was accomplished to clarify the influence of operating conditions such a filter cake pressure drop, tank pressure and valve opening time on the cleaning pulse intensity. This study showed that filter cake pressure drop and valve opening time are negligible in this context.
